As a consultant who doesn’t lose sight of implementation, the 40-year-old will help Ray Sono’s customers meet the challenges of digital change, from strategy and business model to go-to-market and digital ecosystem management. He thus perfectly complements the profile of Ray Sono as a pioneer and companion in digitisation.
After many years of agency work, Scherbeck took the step to creating his own business in 2016 with the start-up LiveCycle. LiveCycle is Germany’s leading service provider for sustainable urban mobility with a focus on B2B customers. With its bike, e-bike, e-cargo bike and e-(kick)scooter concept, the start-up, which was launched as a “two-man company”, expanded within two years to seven German cities and cooperated with companies such as Daimler or GM. As Chief Digital Officer, Scherbeck was responsible for the development of digital services and products and the e-commerce sector. Prior to that, he was Director Social at Kolle Rebbe GmbH and founder and Managing Director at We are Social Deutschland. He gained experience in social media among others at iCrossing GmbH, vi knallgrau GmbH and achtung!.
With the move to Ray Sono, Scherbeck is returning to agency life again. For him, this is the best way to combine the benefits of both worlds:
The agency is the type of business where all the benefits I see as relevant come together. It provides a working environment that allows me to work as flexibly and dynamically as in a well-positioned start-up, while collaborating with customers on large and strategically relevant topics without being caught up in the politics of a large company – which I see as necessary for success.
Bastian Scherbeck, Ray SonoAt Ray Sono, he has set himself the goal of supporting existing customers with his agency-side expertise and his knowledge of company and start-up structures. In addition, he’s enthusiastic about convincing new customers of the growth potential of Ray Sono’s digital support. “Growth usually requires digital change processes. Time and time again these lead to new digital services and products, which can only be efficiently implemented in large companies when they have the mindset of a start-up. The risk that these strategically relevant issues might otherwise get stuck in quicksand in day-to-day business is very high. Particularly at this junction, my experiences of the last 13 years create significant value.”
For Ray Sono, the return of Bastian Scherbeck to the world of digital service providers is a real enrichment. “Bastian represents the Ray Sono ‘THINK. DO. LOVE.’ mentality to 100 percent – due to his sound consulting expertise based on many years of operational experience, his pragmatic approach to well-functioning follow-up service and product development, combined with his start-up mentality and the enthusiasm and passion that significantly influence the success of a digital product at the end of the day,” says Ray Sono board member Thomas Helbing.
