Increasing customer loyalty in a playful way: The McDonald’s Monopoly game has long been a classic among McDonald’s campaigns and has now, after a two-year break, made a successful comeback – this time the game was carried out entirely digitally via the McDonald’s app for the first time. Ray Sono has all the more reason to be happy since we took part in the iconic campaign’s further development and management for the sixth time already. This time we were responsible for programming the digital draw mechanism among other things. Millions of game enthusiasts collected several million sticker codes and entered them in the McDonald’s app – this demonstrates the popularity and impact of one of Germany’s most wide-reaching digital campaigns.
Part of our tasks were the development of the draw mechanism, the definition of rules and routines as well as the processing and reporting of the entered codes – a feast for our backend developers and a great opportunity to showcase our expertise to an audience of millions. The numbers speak for themselves and vastly exceed McDonald’s expectations: Several million coupon codes, a variety of prizes such as iPhones, cars, camper vans and gold coins were given away as well as a prize money of up to 100,000 euros every minute over the entire course of the campaign.
“Ray Sono was responsible again this year for the game backend of our Monopoly campaign. The longtime and close partnership and the digital expertise allow us to continuously develop and sustainably and successfully transform our digital campaigns”, Julian Grießl, Director Digital Marketing, McDonald’s Germany
Being able to accompany and co-manage digital projects with McDonald’s Monopoly’s scope and reach is a further indication of our customers’ trust in our digital expertise. The campaign’s huge success is based on our excellent teamwork as partners – with the common goal of driving digital transformations.
