Munich, 05.05.2021: The pandemic has radically changed the way we all work. Home office is suddenly affecting a large part of the population; video calls and chats are determining our social life. For companies, the lack of physical presence and proximity means they need to find new ways of creating a sense of belonging and connection between employees and teams. This is why Munich-based radio station Radio Gong 96.3 and digital service provider Ray Sono have launched Germany’s first corporate home office radio channel.

Only since recently have Ray Sono employees in Munich, Berlin, Frankfurt, and Cologne as well as all 260+ home offices been able to tune into a new channel – “Ray Sono Radio” – which can accompany them through their day. “We have always been driven to build Digital Ecosystems for ourselves as well as our customers, not only for external but also for internal communication, in order to be able to convey USPs, missions and values,” explains Sebastian Krüger from the Ray Sono management. These ecosystems, which previously consisted of digital communication platforms, digital event platforms or, as with “Ray Visions”, digital interactive walls in offices etc., have now been expanded to include the “Ray Sono Radio” audio format.

As its broadcaster, Radio Gong 96.3 offers ready-made content for this web programme. In addition, various individual and company-specific content modules were developed. “Ray Sono Radio” offers many highlights: In addition to the music mix and jingle sets produced jointly with Radio Gong – which run 24/7, Monday through Friday – listeners can hear about Ray Sono company updates, work-life hacks on health and ergonomics created by employees themselves, Ray Sono music wish lists with audio shout-outs, the daily moderated wake-up call, and the Friday 5 p.m. hit that musically rings in the weekend. Employees can stream the channel at home over the company Intranet.

“With a program of colleague-to-colleague contributions, music, and company news, we have created a common bond that goes beyond our calls and chats in Microsoft Teams,” summarises Sebastian Krüger. The initial experience and feedback have been outstanding. Ray Sono employees are having fun actively shaping the program, and the sense of community during the “New Normal” has been greatly strengthened.

“We are delighted we were able to work with Ray Sono to develop this idea so easily and agilely,” explains Johannes Ott, Managing Director of Radio Gong 96.3. And by the way, this kind of corporate radio is suitable for any industry – without restriction. “All companies that want to reach their home-office employees through this kind of channel should look into this idea,” Johannes Ott continues.

The new product has its finger on the pulse of the times because auditory media are in high demand again – not just since Clubhouse. Radio Gong is currently already in talks with several companies that are also interested in home office radio.
