AI Monday® Munich: The importance of impact

  • The second AI Monday® Munich focused on the integration of AI in companies
  • Industry experts provided insights into their AI strategies
  • “We should think of the emergence of AI as an evolution rather than a revolution.”

The second edition of the AI networking platform AI Monday® Munich, which we once again hosted in collaboration with DAIN Studios, received great acclaim: the significant increase in visitors shows the growing need for answers, clear strategies and tangible applications. This is exactly what our event delivers. The five invited industry experts outlined in their keynotes how AI is becoming more and more of a game changer in many areas of their companies and what measures are needed to integrate the new technology into corporate processes. A successful evening, characterised by intense knowledge transfer, heated debates and new collaborations.

Increased efficiency, speed and quality

“Begin your AI journey with a solid foundation in data literacy. Prioritise developing data skills and upskilling teams above relying solely on technology.”

Sandy Brueckner and Henning Tomforde from Linde kicked off the AI deep dive with an in-depth analysis of their global company’s transformative journey towards AI-powered value creation. Using specific case studies, they illustrated how Linde utilises AI to enhance operational efficiency, deepen customer relationships and develop innovative business models.

“We should think of the emergence of AI as an evolution rather than a revolution,” explained Brueckner. “It’s a technology that relies on data. To realise the possibilities of its application, our employees need to be data-conscious – on a large scale.”

“In domains where AI shows limited competency, we often place undue trust in this technology, yet in areas where it excels, we tend to be distrustful. It’s vital to acknowledge AI’s potential to significantly impact and enhance creativity, transforming our approach to innovation.”

Michael Schmiechen provided insight into the integration of AI into the everii Group’s business strategy, focusing on a data-driven decision-making culture and continuous employee training. With success:

“Our efforts are already having an impact: 12 percent more tasks completed, 25 percent faster completion of tasks and a remarkable 40 percent improvement in quality.” Schmiechen concluded that the targeted promotion of AI skills and the creation of an agile working environment not only boost the company’s efficiency but also its innovative strength.

“AI is more than just a tool; it actively shapes our interactions and fosters a perilous overreliance on its judgements. This convergence blurs the boundaries between human decisions and AI influence, prompting the crucial inquiry: Where does human agency end and AI influence begin?”

Dr Laura Crompton highlighted another important aspect: the ethical implications of the use of AI. She emphasised the need for a comprehensive ethical framework that takes into account legal and social aspects to ensure the responsible and sustainable use of this technology.

Promoting AI skills: The key to innovative strength

In the concluding panel discussion, it was once again made clear what matters most: raising awareness among people about the possibilities of AI, reducing their fears and simply letting them try out the new technology. For the future, it is crucial that companies create the necessary space and opportunities for experimentation to enable further groundbreaking innovations with AI.

There was plenty of material for lively discussions between guests and speakers: Over snacks and drinks, experiences were exchanged and potential collaborations explored. The fact that the next AI Monday® Munich is already being planned is not only due to the consistently positive feedback from the participants on site and the many responses on social media ... The evolution of AI is happening at a rapid pace, so there is still plenty to talk about.

Germany as an industrial centre still lacks courage in some areas, as many uncertainties and regulations hinder the use of AI. AI Monday® is the perfect opportunity for us not only to feel the pulse of the times but also to play a key role in shaping its pace.
